A 3 Things Short Prose Conversation with Edward Hirsch
“3 Things: Short Prose Talks” is a free, live conversation where short prose authors talk about writing and the creative process. Each guest shares three things: a selection of short prose, a prompt, and a writing tip.
This 3 Things conversation is with Edward Hirsch, a MacArthur Fellow who has published ten books of poems and eight books of prose, among them How to Read a Poem and Fall in Love with Poetry and 100 Poems to Break Your Heart. Edward has received the National Book Critics Circle Award and a Pablo Neruda Medal of Honor. His newest book is a memoir-in-fragments, My Childhood in Pieces: A Stand-Up Comedy, A Skokie Elegy (2025). Since 2003, Edward has served as president of the Guggenheim Foundation.
