Craft in the Digital Age: Play & Mental Wellbeing
To celebrate London Craft Week, this special morning brings together artists, a psychotherapist and a leading cultural moderator to explore how creativity can help us slow down, think more clearly and feel more connected both to ourselves and to others.
Moderated by Yasmin Jones-Henry, (FT writer and trustee at Crafts Council) the panel brings together artists from the Well–Crafted roster alongside a leadership coach and psychotherapist Mazelle Siton to explore why play, making and experimentation matter so deeply as tools for regulation, identity and wellbeing. The conversation will explore how simple acts like drawing, dance and writing can support mental clarity, reduce stress and help rewire how we think and feel. Artists from the Well–Crafted roster including Lauren Godfrey, Carry Hornby, and Joanna Layla will share their first hand experience on how their practices from pattern and calligraphy to illustration create moments of focus, calm and insight in everyday life. Roshannah Bagley, Creative Lives in Progress will be sharing how to build a professional practice around craft and creativity.
You’ll also hear real stories from the Well–Crafted community about the unexpected “aha” moments that happen in workshops when people step away from their screens, try something new, and reconnect in a more human, meaningful way.
The event is to launch our summer analogue craft series at Ladbroke Hall ranging from Pride to Summer Solstice and Carnival. It is kindly sponsored by Adobe Express, where we design all branding and Well–Crafted assets. Expect a warm, thoughtful gathering, with refreshments by Wednesday’s Domaine.
