Burnt Foil Art Workshop
Join us for an evening of shimmering craft, Chinese painting, and expressive fan art.
Led by a Ronghua cultural heritage inheritor, this workshop introduces the basic techniques of Chinese painting through a relaxed, beginner-friendly approach. The instructor usually works with Ronghua and Chinese flower painting, and will guide you through creating your own gilded foil fan.
No drawing experience is needed. This is more about expressive, freehand painting than perfect lines. You’ll learn how to use brushwork, metallic foil, and even real plants to create beautiful silhouettes and textures on your fan.
Each piece will be one of a kind: soft, luminous, and full of personal expression.
All materials will be provided.
What You’ll Take Home
You’ll take home a beautiful gilded foil fan, along with a simple technique guide on how to paint flowers and plants in an expressive Chinese painting style.
More than a finished piece, you’ll leave with a feel for xieyi brushwork — loose, poetic, and inspired by nature.
