Karys’ Journey From Caring to Creating
Karys’ Journey From Caring to Creating, Featuring CC Student Karys and her project, Hearts4Hope
📅 Date: Monday, November 10
⏰ Time: 9:30–10:30 AM PT | 12:30–1:30 PM ET
As parents, we want our kids to stand out—but too often, extracurriculars feel like just another box to check. Clubs, activities, and competitions pile up, yet they rarely showcase who a student really is or what they’re capable of.
Join Jules, who began as a Curious Cardinals mentor at Northwestern and now supports our community full-time, and Karys, an 8th grader from Washington, for a virtual event celebrating student initiative, compassion, and the power of mentorship to turn ideas into achievements.
Why This Matters
The right mentor can help your child:
Explore passions and turn them into meaningful projects
Build confidence, leadership skills, and real-world experience
Stand out academically, in extracurriculars, and beyond
Student Spotlight: Karys
When Karys saw her great-grandmother struggle with Alzheimer’s, she felt heartbroken—and motivated to act. Guided by mentorship and her own “cardinal curiosity,” she launched Hearts4Hope, a nonprofit delivering monthly care packages filled with cognitive games for dementia patients. Her project doesn’t just stimulate the brain—it sparks joy, strengthens connections, and brings hope to families.
Karys’ creativity, empathy, and drive recently earned her 3rd place in the Curious Cardinals Timeless Skills Summer Pitch Competition. She’s already planning to expand Hearts4Hope with a new pen-pal app to connect youth with seniors.
