Fantasy in the Park - South Bay π
βBring your current read and join us for Fantasy in the Park!
βA gathering for fantasy, romantasy, romance, dark romance, science fiction, and dystopian readers to read together and meet people who love the same kinds of stories.
βπΒ How our events go
βBring whatever you're currently reading. We'll spend the first part of the afternoon reading our own books together, then break into small groups to talk about books, characters, fictional worlds, recommendations, and whatever we're currently obsessed with.
βThere is no assigned book and you don't need to be reading the same thing as anyone else.
βIf any of these books sound like your jam, you'll fit right in.
βThink Harry Potter, Divergent, The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Throne of Glass, A Court of Thorns and Roses, The Love Hypothesis, Funny Story, Part of Your World, Dark Verse, Mindfck* and everything around and in between.
βFantasy, romantasy, romance, dark romance, sci-fi, dystopian, bring whatever fictional world you're currently living in.
βObsessed with something? Want to talk about it? Need everyone else to join you in the spiral? We are here to serve.
βCome solo or bring a friend. Plenty of people show up by themselves.
βπΒ How the afternoon goes
β3:00β3:30 pm β Arrive, register with the hosts, find a spot, and settle in
3:00β4:30 pm β Reading time
4:30β5:30 pm β Small-group conversations, book recs + general spiraling about fictional characters
5:30 pm onwards β Continue conversations at a nearby cafe (Optional)
βπ Registration + bringing a friend
βOne registration is for one person only. If you're bringing a friend, please send them the event link so they can register for their own spot before coming.
βOur events often have a waitlist, and we plan the number of hosts and conversation moderators based on registrations. Having an accurate headcount helps us make sure everyone gets the experience we planned for.
βIf the event is full, please don't bring an unregistered guest. We really appreciate you leaving those spots for readers already on the waitlist. π
βAnd if your plans change, please update your RSVP so we can offer your spot to someone waiting to join.
βπΒ What to bring
ββ Your current read (physical book, Kindle, or audiobook)
β A blanket or something to sit on
β A jacket - the park gets windy
β A snack or drink if you'd like
βπΒ Getting there
βPark is busy on weekends. If you're driving, aim to arrive a bit earlier with enough time to find parking.
βπΒ A note on photos
βWe may take a few photos and short clips for social. By attending you consent to being photographed but if you'd rather not be, just let us know when you arrive and we'll keep you out of frame.
βπ About Read in the Park
βFantasy in the Park is presented by Read in the Park - South Bay, a Bay Area reading community that meets twice a month to bring our own books, read together in the park, and meet other readers.
βEvery once in a while, we also gather around specific genres, try a new hobby together, or go on a community side quest around the Bay Area.
βBring whatever fictional world you're currently living in.
βSee you in the Park! π
