About Event
PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is only open to the NYU Community (active students, staff, and faculty). Use your nyu.edu email during registration. Thank you!
There are three main methods to develop garment patterns: drafting, flat-pattern manipulation, and draping. This 2 hour, hands-on workshop will cover the fundamentals of draping fabric on a dress form to create a basic body block (aka a sloper). We will discuss the importance of grainline and fabric types, how to manipulate fabric to mold the desired shape, and how to turn this information into a 2d pattern ready for construction.
This workshop will take place in-person at the NYU MakerSpace. Looking forward to seeing you here!
