Special guest: Christian Elam
Christian Elam is a 21 year old investor and entrepreneur who began his journey at the age of 10 when he was the youngest person to attend Stanford for a highly desired computer science program. He launched his first app on the App Store when he was 14 and two more the following year, reaching the Top Charts within eight hours of launch. Christian started working as a senior iOS engineer at 15 years old for various startups before co-founding two of his own, one in social networking and the other an investor-backed social e-commerce platform in the fashion and beauty community. Tragically, his second startup was shut down following the unexpected passing of his co-founder due to COVID-19.
At 18 years old, Christian graduated from UC Berkeley-Haas School of Business under their comparable executive MBA program (COBE), making him the youngest and fastest to do so. He also earned several post-graduate certificates from Cornell. His experience in investing began with being a self-taught day trader in high school, leading to consistent five to six-figure weekly returns. He then channeled his earnings to angel investing before entering the venture capital space being an LP in the Gaingels and LP and on the IC for Sutton Capital.
By request, he founded Bachmanity Capital, raising $20M with Eric Zhu to invest in early and growth stage companies in Deep Tech (Space, Infrastructure, Robotics, AI, etc.) and Defense. The core mission of the fund is to empower the next generation of entrepreneurs to help advance humanity. Bachmanity Capital is a sister fund and close collaborator to Thundermark Capital, founded by Gleb Chuvpilo, raising a $1B Deep Tech fund inspired by Peter Thiel.
In addition to his work in startups and venture capital, Christian is dedicated to philanthropy and mental health, with a focus on teen suicide prevention. He has led lobbying efforts with his personal portfolio company Promly, for the bipartisan Kids Online Safety Act and was instrumental in writing the policy to create the first youth committee within Congress under the FTC, now working towards extending that resource to every congressional office. Christian is also on the task force with the Department of Energy and Elected Officials to Protect America to help allocate the Inflation Reduction Act, as well as collaborates closely with the DoD and intelligence community on various initiatives.
