Amazon Meets Berlin: Women-Led Solutions for the Cocoa Bioeconomy

This is the first event in Ka'a Harmony's series tracing Amazon products back to the communities and stories behind them.

Cocoa cultivation holds real potential as a nature-based solution — but it also remains a major driver of forest loss across the tropics, and is itself increasingly vulnerable to climate change. This evening explores a central question: under what conditions can the cocoa bioeconomy actually deliver on its promise of conservation, climate resilience, and equitable local development?

Drawing on stories from women-led cocoa cooperatives in the Amazon, we'll look at what it takes to grow cocoa sustainably, the economic and social role women play in this bioeconomy, and what a well-designed cocoa value chain could mean for local communities and the forest alike.

📍 Hosted at Medulla

Situated on the Kreuzberg/Mitte border, Medulla is a physical space for turning shared urgency into collective resilience by building new collaborations and infrastructures of prosperity. It brings together organizations, practitioners, and communities working across different fields to respond to the technical, ecological, economic, and cultural crises shaping our shared future.
