Art of the Near Future World: June 8th selection & celebration of short fiction
Join us for the fourth "Art of the Near Future World" event. We'll read, discuss, and celebrate the best short stories & flash fiction written recently that imagine life in our near future world, the world a few months to a few years from now.
What to expect
At the event, we'll spend the first half wandering and reading the selected stories, and then we'll spend the second half discussing what grabbed us about them and voting on two stories that we'll give $250 prizes to.
No prep or pre-reading required: just show up. Here's a recap of our October 2025 event that gives more of a feel for what the event is like.
Ahead of June 8th, here are further ways to get involved and qualify for the two $250 prizes we'll award to the winning stories:
Write and submit your own flash fiction (or fragment), a < 1,000 word piece set in our near future world. Use this **form** to submit your work.
Recommend the best short story (< 5,000 words) published anywhere between April 2026 - June 2026 that is set in our near future world. Use this **form** to refer a short story. We're awarding $100 to the first person to refer a winning story.
