Flourishing Hot Pot: HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRONTIER TOWER
Happy 1 year birthday to Frontier Tower and the Human Flourishing Floor.
When we first started the Human Flourishing Floor, hot pot became one of the ways we grounded the community in shared ritual. It was a monthly occurrence in the early days, a simple but meaningful practice of gathering around a shared pot, each person bringing something, each moment shaped together. In many ways, hot pot became a reflection of what we were building. A living system of participation, interdependence, and care. A space where nourishment is co-created, where no one person holds the whole, and where something richer emerges through togetherness.
As we celebrate one year of this experiment, we’re bringing this ritual back for Frontier Day.
Hot pot has a long history, tracing back over 1,000 years along the Yangtze River, where people gathered around simmering broth to cook and share food together. It is both practical and deeply communal, a format that invites presence, contribution, and connection.
You’re invited to bring a hot pot ingredient to share. This can be sliced meats, seafood, tofu, vegetables, mushrooms, noodles, dumplings, or something you love. Judy will take care of vegan offerings and bring her secret family recipe hot pot dipping sauce, so there will be a grounding base for everyone. This gathering is a celebration of what we’ve built over the past year and an invitation into what comes next. We will share food, stories, and reflections, and spend time connecting across the community that has made this floor come alive.
