What does a future of human flourishing look like, if we get AI right? And what would it take for Europe to build it?
The frontier labs, the capital and the compute are mostly elsewhere. Europe has led on AI safety and regulation, but leading on rules is not the same as leading on outcomes. The bigger opportunity is directing AI at the problems actually worth solving: health, science, climate, energy, education, and building the funding models that make those bets possible.
Dorothy Chou was until recently Director of the Public Engagement Lab at Google DeepMind, and is now an angel investor. Across a career at Google, Uber, Dropbox and DeepMind, she created the tech industry's first Transparency Report and has spent two decades working on how technology earns public trust. Her argument: 21st-century science needs 21st-century funding, meaning capital structures that reward breakthroughs which save lives, not only rapid scalability.
Nicklas Berild Lundblad has spent more than twenty years at the intersection of technology, policy and foresight. He led global policy and public affairs at Google DeepMind, and before that worked at Stripe and at Google, where he was VP of Public Policy for EMEA. He is now an independent writer, researcher and investor, and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.
Together they will dig into where capital, trust and public infrastructure meet, and what founders and investors in Europe can actually do about it.
