The Emerging Opportunities to Partner with Scaling School Network Founders
It is no secret building a new school is hard. But right now, it might also be the most exciting time to try. We recently caught up with John Danner, founder of Flourish Middle Schools, who after a decade-long break from school founding has re-entered the new school space this year driven by the rise in Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) across multiple states and a fresh wave of parent demand.
Our discussion surfaced three emerging opportunities becoming ever-present to new school builders:
1️⃣ AI-driven instruction will happen first: Once instruction is automated, the teacher's role will evolve into that of a "coach" or "guide." Schools must then reimagine what "rest of the day” looks like
2️⃣ Extra-curricular becomes core: All programs previously deprioritized in the school day will come back and define the learning experience with an even bigger impact.
3️⃣ Back-office innovation is overdue: From compliance to payroll, back office support for new schools is ripe for innovation. There is a great need and role for founders to play here, especially with less teacher resistance and inefficiencies that are otherwise possible today on the business side of scaling school networks.
John and others scaling school networks can’t do it alone. They will need the support of founders across Transcend Network and beyond to build together in partnership.
