Consulting in Membership Organisations
Join us for a conversation on the roles, challenges, and learnings of consulting for membership organisations.
While all organisations are "member" organisations in a broad sense, we are focusing on alliances, networks, federations, and associations. These structures are diffused geographically and often decentralised in their decision-making; in these contexts, understanding and creating conversational spaces is key to their development.
We will discuss how working with stories and narrative supports this work, sharing anonymised outputs from a recent client engagement.
Additionally, we will explore the tension fields we experience in such organisations. Our discussion will cover:
- Decision-making: Inclusion, participation, and the impact of a changing environment.
- Diverse voices: Balancing different identities and the process of sensing a coherent organisational voice.
- Social defences: Strategies for coping with change, power dynamics, and anxiety—and how to approach them.
- Backgrounds: The impact of intergenerational and intercultural dynamics.
We are joined by Annalisa Bortoluzzi, an experienced consultant with extensive knowledge of membership organisations, and a deep study of organisational development and dynamics.
