About Event

Join the Stanford GSB Government & Politics Club for a fireside chat with Derek Kan on “Silicon Valley vs. Washington: Who Runs America in the Age of AI?”

Few leaders have worked as extensively at the intersection of Silicon Valley, Washington, and American business. Kan currently serves as Vice Chairman of the U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors and sits on the boards of Fortinet (FTNT), Oklo (OKLO), Toll Brothers (TOL), and Globe Life (GL). Previously, he served as Deputy Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, Under Secretary of Transportation for Policy, and Vice President at Shopify.

A Stanford GSB alumnus, Kan brings a unique perspective on the growing concentration of power in technology, the relationship between business and government, and the future of American leadership in the age of artificial intelligence.
