Filmstack IRL LA Meetup
Very excited to have Arc Studio partner with us for this month's meetup!
Arc Studio provides modern software for screenwriters and filmmakers to bring their stories to life. You can learn more on their website:
And someone from Arc Studio should be joining us on the day as well to answer any questions you might have!
FilmStack is a community that grew out of entertainment professionals writing and connecting on Substack – people using the platform not just to publish, but to think out loud about the industry, the work, and where things are headed.
Those online conversations eventually spilled into the real world.
FilmStack Los Angeles is a monthly, casual, no-pressure meetup for anyone in film, TV, and the broader creator economy – from established professionals to new creatives still cutting their teeth. Writers, producers, directors, executives, assistants, editors, and digital creators are all welcome.
The meetups are hosted by Jon Stahl, who writes the Substack newsletter How Not to Be a TV Writer, and began organizing these gatherings as a way to bring the community off the page and into the same space.
What to expect:
Easygoing conversations with people who actually work in (or are seriously pursuing) entertainment
Honest discussion about projects, careers, fundraising and how the industry is changing
Drinks, conversation, and a chance to feel connected again
The last few FilmStack LA meetups have been brand-sponsored, with partners providing free food and drinks (up to a cap), and we’re actively working toward larger sponsorships and more brand involvement going into 2026.
Meetups currently take place at a relaxed outdoor bar setting in Los Angeles, with plans to eventually move into a dedicated private space.
Whether you’ve been in the industry for years or are just getting started, FilmStack LA is about showing up, meeting people, and staying connected to the creative community.
