Obiettivi dell'evento di Catania
Fare chiarezza e ordine all'interno del paniere di termini che ruotano attorno alla nozione di sovranità tecnologica, come neutralità della rete, free software, open source, licenze, ecc... mettendoli in relazione ta loro, evidenziandone similarità e differenze e presentando ragionamenti e implicazioni nel mondo reale.
Presentare una nutrita lista di realtà (gruppi e progetti) di informatica resistente presenti sul globo terrestre, allo scopo di mostrare come il sentimento di entusiasmo e attivismo rispetto al tema stia vivendo negli ultimi anni una sempre più crescente diffusione.
Dare spazio a diverse realtà locali per far conoscere i propri progetti e iniziative.
Dare spazio a tutti i presenti per presentare i propri punti di vista sulle problematiche derivanti dalle logiche proprietarie (proprietà intellettuale, brevetti, software proprietario, ecc...).
Obiettivo a lungo termine (a Catania)
Favorire la nascita di un hub di filosofi e attivisti intorno al tema delle libertà digitali e della tecnologia libera, con la missione di informare e sensibilizzare, risvegliare le coscienze e creare connessioni e collaborazioni con e tra le realtà globali che hanno a cuore questi temi.

LibreLocal is an initiative by the Free Software Foundation created to support the dissemination of the principles behind free software and free technologies. On this page — LibreLocal 2026 events page — you can find both the Catania event and all the other global events connected to the initiative.
🎯 Goals of the Catania event
To bring clarity and structure to the broad set of concepts revolving around technological sovereignty — such as net neutrality, free software, open source, licensing models, and related topics — by exploring how these ideas connect to one another, highlighting similarities and differences, and discussing their implications in the real world.
To present a wide range of "resilient computing" realities (groups and projects) from around the world, showing how enthusiasm and activism around these topics have been steadily growing in recent years.
To give visibility to local groups and communities, allowing them to present their own projects and initiatives.
To give space to all participants to share their perspectives on the issues arising from proprietary paradigms (intellectual property, patents, proprietary software, etc.).
🌍 Long-term goal (in Catania)
To encourage the emergence of a local hub of thinkers and activists around the themes of digital freedoms and free technology, with the mission of informing and raising awareness, awakening critical consciousness, and fostering connections and collaborations with global communities that care about these issues.
