​In this performance, Shane tells the story of becoming self-educated without following a traditional academic path—and what that experience taught him about curiosity, critical thinking, intellectual humility, and learning how to learn. It’s a look at how an amateur can engage seriously with expertise, how to build your own education, and why knowing how to be wrong may be one of the most important skills an autodidact can develop.

​The performance will be followed by an expert panel on nontraditional and informal learning with Joe Hastings and Kristin Leigh, Co-Executive Directors of the Explora Science Center & Children's Museum. The panel will be moderated by Shane Mauss.
