About Event

About the session:

What if authentic human connection isn’t a “nice to have” in health and social systems—but the intervention itself?

Community As Medicine® (CAM) is an evidence-based, field-tested model that treats human connection as a primary driver of health, wellbeing, and system transformation. It’s now scaling nationally in the US via the YMCAs, building clinic–community ecosystems for wellbeing that extend care beyond the walls of healthcare.

This is not a lecture, or a workshop, or a panel, or even a discussion. It’s a live, facilitated experience of Community As Medicine.

You’ll move your body. You’ll engage with others beyond roles and titles. You’ll step into a restorative, fun, pressure-free, pitch-free space—a sharp contrast to the usual networking vibe.

This is a place to actually feel better, meet people in a more real way, and experience a powerful, emerging modality for human health and wellbeing—one that is designed to scale, reduce costs, and bridge the clinic-community divide.

Come to have a great time.
Leave with a direct experience of what might be missing in how we design for health, connection, and systems change.

Who this is for:

Social entrepreneurs, funders, system leaders, and community builders—especially those working in health and wellness, or building the future of healthcare systems.

And anyone who wants something deeper than networking.

What you will get out of it:

  • A direct, embodied experience of Community As Medicine

  • Real connection with others beyond transactional conversation

  • A reset for your nervous system in the middle of an intense forum

  • Insight into a scalable, YMCA-powered model for improving health and lowering costs

  • A glimpse of what clinic–community ecosystems for wellbeing can actually feel like in practice

Location & access
Accessibility matters deeply to us, and we do our best to choose spaces that reflect that. That said, some of our Oxford venues are in historic buildings without lifts. This room is unfortunately not accessible for wheelchair users, those with mobility challenges, or anyone needing step-free access.

Location
The Oxford Union Society
Oxford Union, Frewin Ct, Oxford OX1 3JB, UK
