Repair Café QNS
Bring your items in need of repair to the Repair Café QNS Repair Café, hosted by Queens Collaborative!
This session will feature both Electrical and Textile repair slots. Please only sign up for one (1) repair per person.
Electrical Repairs:
Electrical appliances are small household items—a lamp that flickers, a radio that's shorting out. Experienced repair people (using safety tools!) will diagnose issues and redo wiring while you watch.
WE CAN: fix small household appliances: lamps, fans, toasters, radios, hot water kettles, and sewing machines
WE CAN'T: fix computers, cellphones, high voltage or high pressure items.
Textile Repairs:
We’ll be on hand to help with the small fixes that can keep clothes in rotation: a loose button, a popped seam, a quick hem, a small hole, or a simple patch. We’ll also show you a few hand-sewing basics so you can tackle similar repairs at home.
If you have a matching button, thread, or fabric scrap, bring it along. Repairs are first come, first served within each time slot and depend on the item and time available.
WE CAN: help with small holes, buttons, quick hems, popped seams, and minor patches.
WE CAN'T: take on zippers, full alterations, relining, or large tears.
Choose a timed entry slot when you sign up, and please arrive during that window. This helps us make sure everyone gets time with a repair volunteer.
HOW TO FIND US
Our studio is located at 21-07 41st Avenue. When you get to the building, please use the intercom to the left of the door to find The Collaboratory or 213 in the directory. We will answer your call and buzz you in remotely.
Once inside, you can take the elevator to Floor 2 and find us in Studio 213.
MASK REMINDER
The Collaboratory is a Masks Required space. 😷 We also run two air filters/purifiers during our gatherings. If you don't arrive with a mask, don't worry—we'll have them available at the door.
If you're not feeling well or have reason to believe you've been exposed to a viral illness, please consider staying home. Let's keep each other safe. 😷
REFUND POLICY
QNSC is unable to issue refunds. If you are unable to attend an event for which you have purchased a ticket, tickets can be transferred to another person at the buyer's arrangement. If you have a special circumstance, please reach out to hello@queenscollaborative.com
