Forest Ecology, Restoration and Defensible Space w/Ryen Hezler

This event is part of a 6 month series exploring the role of fire on the landscape around the Salish Sea, hosted by scientists, firefighters, ecologists, foresters and cultural burners - including site visits, film screenings, and hands on activities.

Join Ryen Hezler of Jefferson County Land Trust for a guided walk and conversation about forest restoration and resilience. This talk will cover some basics about tree identification and forest ecology, as we discuss the current situation of the second-growth forests across the Olympic peninsula and strategies we can use to increase forest resilience and lower wildfire risk.
