What is "wendy's mini hobby hop"?
This is an event designed to bring our community, "sir, this is a wendy's", and friends of the community together to celebrate and explore new passions. ✨ It's where you can try out different activities, meet new people, and engage with the incredible hobbies happening right here in our community. 😌
It's a mini hobby hop, because instead of our previous hobby hop and flea market, we want to just host something that requires a little bit less co-ordination.. so instead of the 5 workshops, we're just doing 2 workshops.
By joining us, you're not just attending an event, you're supporting our mission to keep our hobbies accessible and engaging for everyone. 🙌
What We Have to Offer?

What's Included in Your Ticket?
Each ticket gives you a dedicated space and time for fun, and a way to support our community! The ticket price includes:
All activity related fees, including host fees, tools and supplies.
A fee to support our event organizers and volunteers.
Platform and payment processing fees.
To ensure we have a dedicated time and space for the entire 2.5-hour, please purchase at least ONE drink from the bubble tea store to support their business and the space.
Additionally, you'll have the option to donate an extra $5 to help fund our community’s future events.
Activity Details & Host Bios
Crocheting 101 Workshop (with Sabrina)
Learn the basics of crochet with Sabrina of Sab's Stitches! In this workshop, participants will learn how to make a slipknot, chain, single crochet, double crochet, and slip stitch. No crochet experience is required for this workshop and everyone is welcome! Learn a new skill, or hang out with friends!
Host Bio: Sabrina is a Toronto local who loves to crochet, eat good food, and collect hobbies. during the day, she works in child and youth mental health (sometimes teaching crochet!) and is otherwise found crafting or creating in some way, shape, or form. check out her crochet Instagram @sabsstitches or ask her for her matcha/food recommendations!

Landscape Watercoloring Workshop (with Dian)
Curious about watercolor but not sure where to start? Join us for a relaxed, beginner friendly intro to watercolor painting workshop where we'll explore simple techniques, experiment with colour, and create a landscape painting together. No experience needed, just bring your curiosity and enjoy the process of making something by hand!
Host Bio: Dian (@dianhanstudio) is an artist and pharmacist based in downtown Toronto. She offers live guest illustrations at weddings and events, murals, and commissions. When not working on creative projects or in the pharmacy, she’s probably reading in the park, thrifting with her mom, or biking to a yoga class. 🌳 📖 🧘🏻♀️

The People Behind the Event
We started as a group of people who wanted to stay connected with our passions but also with friends. By sharing our hobbies, we found a low-stakes and fun way to make new friends and deepen existing bonds. 👯
We have been running free community events every week, with attendees chipping in to cover materials costs when needed. 💵 Events like this help us continue supporting our community members' creative pursuit, while also help raise community funds to purchase supplies, keep costs low for everyone, and pay for any potential rental fees that might occur. 💪
