Black Girl Environmentalist x Black In Environment Panel & Happy Hour
Los Angeles Climate Week: Two-Part Event Series Hosted by Budding Black Environmental Groups
Join us for an impactful two-part event series during Los Angeles Climate Week, brought to you by leading Black environmental organizations—Black Girl Environmentalist (BGE) and Black In Environment (BIE). This series is designed to build community among Black environmental professionals, highlight innovative climate solutions led by Black women, and increase awareness of the vital work being done by our organizations.
Part 1: Panel Discussion
In partnership with the official LA Climate Week Clean Energy Expo, Black Girl Environmentalist will host an event dedicated to empowering Black leadership within the green economy by bringing together emerging Black environmental and climate organizations and highlighting our respective work to create green pathways.
As the green economy continues to expand rapidly, we seek to ensure that Black climate solutions, organizations, and job seekers are not only present but thriving within this space. The conversation will explore the broader ecosystem of green job force development, with panelists engaging in critical discussions around questions such as: How can we guarantee that Black youth and professionals are not left behind amidst this surge of innovation? What does it mean to bridge generational divides and work effectively across different industries? How can the environmental sector build a workforce that is more inclusive and reflective of the communities it serves, while adapting to a rapidly evolving technological and cultural landscape?
This event will aim to spark a thoughtful dialogue on what it truly takes to elevate the next generation of Black climate leaders, ensuring our visibility and influence are firmly embedded within the wider environmental economy and movement. This broad focus will create a holistic understanding of the green workforce and the collective efforts needed to ensure that Black professionals are not left behind. Each of our organizations play an important and distinct role in the green job market, this session will illuminate just how we do so and the necessary demand we supply.
Part 2: Mixer/Happy Hour
Join us for an enriching and informal gathering hosted by Black In Environment, where Black environmental professionals can come together to connect, collaborate, and celebrate the diverse and impactful work being done in the field. This mixer offers a unique opportunity to build a strong and supportive community, fostering connections among professionals and allies across various environmental disciplines.
As we highlight and honor the achievements of Black-led environmental organizations and initiatives, you'll have the chance to engage with peers at different career stages—whether early, mid, or senior-level—encouraging collaboration and shared experiences. This event also serves as a platform to increase awareness of the innovative programming and resources offered by Black In Environment, Black Girl Environmentalist, and our event sponsors.
Throughout the evening, partners and sponsors will have the opportunity to spotlight their work, sharing insights and promotional materials that underscore their commitment to advancing environmental justice and leadership. Come be a part of this vibrant community-building event, where connections are made, achievements are celebrated, and the future of Black environmental leadership is shaped.
