About Event

Guingamor Whom The River Took Back is a performance that revisits medieval European tales from the 12th and 13th century that holds connection between water and the magical world in their tales. In these tales, bodies of water separate the real world from a world that resembles it in every respect, but in which time flows differently, where death no longer exists, and castles appear and disappear in the mist. These worlds are a distorted mirror of the real world, separated from it only by an elusive and transparent element: water. The performance draws on amongst other materials, extracts from Foucault’s Heterotopias, in which the philosopher explains how we invest tangible spaces with symbols, meaning and imagination. This reflection is applied to bodies of water as they exist in real life and literature. This adaptation of the original performance will bring an additional layer that interprets and responds to the artworks in the exhibition space.

This performance will be in English and French.
