About Event

How is AI reshaping the economy and investment environment, and where do investors, policymakers and cities have the ability to shape what comes next?

Using the NYC Comptroller’s recent AI and New York City’s Fiscal Future scenario analysis as a starting point, this WISE NYC panel will explore the economic and fiscal implications of AI and what they could mean for cities, public finance and sustainable investment.

Together, we’ll look at both sides of the equation: how AI is changing the economic and investment landscape, and where investors, policymakers and cities can move beyond responding to change and help shape a more resilient and sustainable AI economy.

Speakers

Neerada Poduval (Moderator)
With over 15 years of experience spanning BlackRock, Aberdeen Investments, the Singapore government and UNEP, Neerada brings a capital markets, environmental engineering and public policy lens to sustainable investing. Her early work in green buildings included developing one of Singapore's first green data center labels. More recently, she has been engaging with investee companies globally on climate transition and the sustainability and governance implications of AI. She holds an MPA from Columbia University and a BEng from Nanyang Technological University.

Aida Farmand
Aida works on revenue forecasting and the City’s fiscal outlook, and contributed to the NYC Comptroller’s report AI and New York City’s Fiscal Future, a scenario analysis of how AI-driven shifts in growth, productivity and employment could affect City tax revenues. Her research focuses on labor markets, wage determination and economic security. She previously held research positions at UC Berkeley’s Institute for Research on Labor and Employment and The New School’s Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis, and holds a PhD in Economics from The New School for Social Research.

Kaiti Vartholomaios
With nearly two decades of risk management experience across Man Group, the National Bank of Greece and S&P Global, Kaiti brings a behavioral lens to credit analysis, drawing on her background in psychology and human-computer interaction. Since 2016 she has evaluated U.S. local government credit quality at S&P, and she co-leads the APF team’s AI implementation. She authored one of the earliest thought leadership pieces on AI’s impact on public finance in 2019. Kaiti is a long-standing WISE NYC member and was the chapter’s co-lead from 2020 to 2022.
