Trans Allyship in South Asian Communities
Join the South Asian Solidarity Movement and SACRED Acts for an evening of connection, conversation, and allyship featuring transgender, nonbinary, and genderqueer artists, practitioners, activists, and community leaders whose work reflects a deep commitment to justice, belonging, and collective care.
Together, we'll explore what meaningful allyship looks like within our families and communities while highlighting the rich and often overlooked histories of gender diversity across South Asia. The evening will also feature a special drag performance, bringing art, joy, and celebration into the conversation.
And while this gathering is rooted in South Asian experiences and communities, this conversation belongs to all of us. We warmly welcome people from across the global majority to join us. Transphobia is not confined to any one culture, community, or geography. It affects communities across the world, and our struggles for dignity, safety, and belonging are deeply interconnected. We welcome adults, children, and youth to be part of this evening.
At a time when transphobia, anti-trans violence, and anti-trans legislation are on the rise, silence is political. Creating safety for transgender and gender-expansive people is not a passive process. It requires us to listen, learn, show up, and take responsibility for the communities we are building.
