Lunch Series: Celtic Conversations with Professor Patrick McGorry AO
This regular lunch series will feature a two-course lunch and insights from a special guest speaker. This January, the much-awaited interview with Professor Patrick McGorry AO, conducted by Eoin Killackey, will take place.
You might know Patrick McGorry as the former President of the Celtic Club - but who is he beyond the Club, and what does he do in his day job? Pat was born in Ireland, lived in Wales as a child and moved to Newcastle in NSW as a teenager. Later, he studied medicine and eventually became a psychiatrist. Pat’s career has seen him revolutionise the field of mental health and introduce and champion early intervention in mental health and youth mental health. The world is now facing a crisis in terms of unprecedented levels of mental ill health in young people. This is a unique opportunity to come and hear about the life, career and mission of the 2010 Australian of the Year and a recently inducted member of the Royal Irish Academy.
Pat will be interviewed in this conversation by fellow professor of psychiatry Eóin Killackey, a member of the club’s Cultural and Heritage Working Group.
*Ticket price includes presentation and insights from our guest speaker and a catered two course set lunch.
