Grief Healing Circle
βπΏ Come as you are. Bring your grief. Leave a little lighter.
βYou are invited to join a Grief Healing Circle Amongst the Trees β an intimate, facilitated gathering for people navigating loss, held outdoors in the natural sanctuary of TreePeople in Los Angeles.
βInspired by indigenous storytelling traditions from around the world, Healing Circles are a form of authentic communication rooted in communal presence. Together, participants share and listen to personal stories from the heart β no fixing, no advice, just witnessed truth. Through shared story, we build connection, compassion, and strength. We create less fear and more love. Together, we heal.
βWhat to Expect
βWe'll begin with a gentle grounding exercise in nature, followed by introductions and a guided meditation. The heart of our time together is the Healing Circle itself β structured in three rounds, with a prompt provided for each one:
βπ£ Story Sharing Round β speak and listen from the heart in a held, safe space (speaking not required)
βπ Witness Round β respond to what you heard
βπ± Harvest Round β identify what you're taking with you from the Circle
βAfter the Circle closes, you're warmly invited to continue connecting through a walk amongst the trees.
βYour Facilitators
βDana Horstein is a Certified Deep Transformational Coach for Women in Midlife and the founder of Windhorse Transformational Coaching. Dana participated in her first Healing Circle in 2007 and has been practicing and facilitating Circles ever since. Her own journey with grief β losing her father in her 30s and finding little support β motivates her to help others experiencing loss. She gains peace by being in nature and practicing qi gong and meditation. She believes that our personal healing is necessary for the collective healing and transformation of our world.
ββA Grief Like Mine is a compassionate community space that connects people navigating grief with others whoβve experienced similar loss, offering supportive gatherings and healing experiences.
βNotes on Space & Safety
βRegistration - This is a highly intimate event β registration is limited to 10 participants. Every person in the Circle is an active, essential part of the experience. If your plans change, please cancel your registration so someone else may attend.
βTime/Space - We will start promptly, so please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to find parking (see note on parking below) and make your way down to the ampitheater, where we'll be located. Those arriving more than 10 minutes late may be invited to participate as a witness outside the Circle β a role that also carries its own healing.
βConsider bringing sun protection in case the trees don't completely block it out.
βHandicap Accessible - The ampitheater is handicap accessible, but the route to get there is a little longer. If you need to use that route, please allow a little extra time.
βParking - First, head to the main TreePeople lot. If that lot is full, there is an alternative dirt lot directly across the street from the main lot. Upon exiting the main lot, you'll see a yellow sign across the street on the left-hand side that says "Dead End." The alternative lot is to the left of that sign. Turn left out of the main lot and park in the alternative lot. While it is not an "official" TreePeople lot, TreePeople staff have said it is okay to park there.
βCost & Donations
βThis Healing Circle is offered free of charge, in the spirit of healing for all. At the close of the event, participants are warmly invited β but never obligated β to make an optional Pay-It-Forward donation.
βA gentle note: While Dana is trained in healing and trauma-informed practices, she is not a mental health practitioner, and this Healing Circle is not a substitute for therapy or grief counseling. Participants are encouraged to honor their own comfort and well-being throughout.
βWe look forward to being in Circle with you. π³
