Code Like a Girl: How to Attract and Retain More Women (Moran Weber)

It’s no secret that women are highly underrepresented in the tech industry. Some argue that this is a “natural” given fact, but it hasn't always been this way; software development was actually once perceived as a rather feminine field. Turns out, something happened in the mid-1980s that dramatically decreased the percentage of women in computer science studies. Why? What happened?

In this talk, I’ll explain what affected these numbers and discuss the importance of role models for women in tech. You will see there isn’t anything “natural” about it and that you CAN make a difference just by doing some things differently.

Join me and learn practical and scientifically-backed techniques to adjust every step of your recruitment funnel that can substantially increase the number of women in your company.

Panel: The Power of Building Women in Tech Communities Within Companies

An ERG (Employee Resource Group) is often a voluntary group that provides a supportive community for people with common identities or interests in the workplace. Among Fortune 500 companies, 90% utilize ERGs as part of their employee engagement strategies. While ERGs are typically employee-led, formal company support is essential for these groups to thrive and contribute significantly to the organization as a whole. Employees who feel a high sense of belonging are more likely to be engaged, loyal, and promote their organizations as great places to work. In this panel, we will explore successful case studies of women in tech communities within companies, discussing their significant impacts, and sharing insights on how to effectively build and sustain them.
