IRL: Advent of Code/Cyber
Similar to the virtual version but in real-life (IRL) and instead of an initial topic, we will dive into the seasonal coding challenges that everyone’s talking about:
Advent of Code – solve daily puzzles, compare solutions, and learn new tricks.
Advent of Cyber – explore beginner‑friendly security challenges on TryHackMe.
Bring your laptop, a curious mind, and a willingness to share ideas. Whether you’re a seasoned puzzle‑solver or just getting started, you’ll find a friendly crowd ready to help.
Everyone and anyone are welcome to join as long as you are kind, supportive, and respectful of others.
Schedule:
6:30pm - 6:40pm: Setup, people arrive and get settled
6:40pm - 6:50pm: Introductions, thank sponsors, and other bookkeeping
6:50pm - 8:30pm: Solve Puzzles
8:30pm - 9:30pm: Continue the discussion at Next Act Pub
Cost:
This event is free to attend. Donations are welcomed and used to cover venue costs, snacks, and support other Weekly Dev Chat activities.
Snacks & Refreshments
Provided: chips, cookies, and soda/pop will be available for all attendees.
Optional: you’re welcome to bring additional snacks to share with the group.
Please note: No alcoholic beverages are allowed inside the Strathcona Public Library.
