Sunset Dance Jam on the Beach #21 (relocated)
Third Alameda Dance Jam of 2026, relocated for safety concerns to Crown Beach near restroom structure — enter large lot at Otis Dr and Westline Dr. (Lot entrance closes 7pm.) As we wish DJ Black Sunshine well moving away from the island, we're happy to welcome DJ Phyzk (Chris Sherertz), bringing the world-wide feel-good classics. Get ready for a set with afrobeat, Brazilian and Bollywood stuff mixed in to 70s and 80s classics. Prepare to shake your moneymaker to unexpected jams. So RSVP to lock in.
The May dance jam set new records for positive energy, turning out way over 100 people of all ages and colors... so it looks like the word is out. June 26 will be a little different, (aside from a new DJ): 1. we're shifting down the beach a bit more out of sight and sound less chance of bother to any residents, and 2. it's a Friday not a Saturday. We need you there to help us test this new way of doin it!
Grab a hoodie or a blanket just in case, and grab a friend too and head down to Otis Dr and Westline Dr. at 7pm on June 26th to dance together with co-hosts Deirdre, Angie, Noel and DJ Meglennial, with a new sound system provided by MAKEBOOMBOXES.com and first time we'll have DJ Phyzk at Alameda Dance Jam.
DJ Physk's mixes will uplift your mind and your behind. Chris recently relocated to Berkeley from Santa Cruz and is a good friend and work mate of Noel's. His deep cuts and excellent music taste is all about what we need in the world: peace and love, respect for art and culture, and inventing sick beats.
The dance is on the beach at the corner of Shore Line Dr and Oak St in Alameda (across from McDonalds). We are trying to dance at sunset by starting around 7 and wrap about 9:30 (cause it can get mad cold after sunset). We may go longer if weather permits. Family friendly.
