The UX Uncertainty Principle
Don't miss this live session with Julia Ysabela Fernandez (Adobe) and Jeremy Miller (https://www.beyonduxdesign.com/), where you'll learn where your real leverage actually is and how to use it. Through discussion and hands-on learning, you'll leave with a way of thinking about your work that holds up when the plan falls apart.
About the event
We're taught that our job is to design the user experience. But how much of that experience do we actually control? The landing page marketing wrote, the bug engineering shipped, the support ticket that went sideways, the user squinting at their screen in the sun on a five-year-old phone. Most of what makes or breaks an experience happens somewhere we can't reach.
This session starts with a hard idea: you can't truly design a user's experience, and pretending otherwise is why good work still produces bad outcomes. From there we get practical. We'll use VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) as a framework for the forces you don't control, and figure out where your real leverage actually is.
Then we roll up our sleeves. In the hands-on portion, you'll work through specific VUCA scenarios pulled from real software teams and figure out how to move forward when the ground won't hold still.
Come ready to work. The best answers in the room will come from the people in it.
About Jeremy
Jeremy Miller is a Product Design Lead with around 20 years in design and 14 in UX, including nearly a decade at GE building enterprise software through more org changes, leadership shuffles, and industry crises than he can count.
