Listen To The Neighborhood
If you’re in NYC for Podcast Movement, this is a chance to get outside, meet some fellow podcast people, and see a part of the city you might otherwise only experience on the walk between your hotel and the conference. We’ll start at Terminal 5 and stay within the surrounding neighborhood.
We’ll talk about the people who have lived and worked here, the neighborhood’s evolution, its connections to entertainment and culture, and some of the stranger pieces of New York history you might otherwise walk right past.
It's a walking tour, but we're gonna make it a podcast walking tour, of course... Throughout the walk, we’ll connect what we’re seeing to podcasts, audio storytelling, interviewing, and the process of finding a great story. There'll be interactive elements designed to get you talking, listening, or looking at your surroundings a little differently.
The tour is 90 minutes total, including a 15-minute break along the way.
Meet your host
Arielle Nissenblatt is a podcast industry professional, founder of EarBuds Podcast Collective and Well It Depends Labs, and a licensed New York City tour guide. She’s spent more than a decade working in podcast marketing, audience development, and community building, and she loves finding ways to connect podcasting with the history, people, and weird little details of New York City.
Her tours are less about memorizing dates / facts and more about asking good questions, making unexpected connections, and leaving with stories you’ll want to share with others.
A Few Things to Know
This tour is capped at 18 people to keep the group small enough for convo, interactive portions of the walk, and to allow us to move through the streets easily.
We’ll be outside and on our feet for most of the 90 minutes, so wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.
Refunds are available until 24 hours before the tour. After that point, tickets are nonrefundable, but you can transfer to a friend or colleague.
