Join us for The Basement’s spin on Shark Tank, where you get 90 seconds at the mic to deliver your pitch to a live panel of judges for a shot at real prizes. No pitch decks, slides, or complex business plans required. Just you and your idea.
Ready to Pitch?
In-Person Sign-Ups: Claim your pitch spot at The Basement on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign-ups open at 11:15 a.m. on the day of the event.
Eligibility: Current UC San Diego undergraduate and graduate students only (past Triton Tank winners are ineligible to pitch).
Solo Pitches Only: All pitches must be individual—no pairs, trios, or group presentations.
Your 90-Second Pitch Structure:
Intro: Your name & company/idea name
Problem: What issue are you tackling?
Solution: What is your proposed fix?
Edge: How is your idea different?
Close: Quick wrap-up and call to connect with the room

Directions
This event is located on the first floor of the Design and Innovation Building (DIB). The entrances are located across from the Structural Materials and Engineering building or next to the UC San Diego Central Campus Station bus and trolley stop.

MTS Trolley
The easiest way to get to the DIB is by taking the MTS trolley UC San Diego Blue Line and getting off at the UC San Diego Central Campus stop. The trolley stop is a short 1 minute walk to the DIB.
Parking
Public transportation is highly recommended as parking is limited on campus. If you plan to drive to campus, please give yourself plenty of time. You can download the ParkMobile app to pay for your space digitally once you find a spot.
