Debate X: “Gene Editing is an Ethical Necessity”
Gene editing is the frontier of biotechnology. Within our grasp is the ability to mend the very constitution of man, thereby preventing the suffering and deaths of an uncountable number of humans across time and space. To refuse to embrace such technology is not only wrong, but inhumane.
YET, the promise of a brighter future is mere propaganda to mask the horrifying implications on which its actualization depends. Genetic manipulation — while facilitating a genocide of possible futures and ensuring the commodification of our actual one — will be the deification of the few, the beautification of the rich, and the enslavement of the many.
