ππ΄ CARIBBEANS ECHO RETURNS!
βππ΄ CARIBBEANS ECHO RETURNS!
βVoices. Roots. Legacy.
βTwo actors. No script. One situation. What happens next is up to you.
βFollowing our first Caribbeans Echo event in Brixton, Caribbeans Connects Founder Jermaine Young-Bushay is bringing the experience back for another evening celebrating Black British-Caribbean history, culture, music and storytelling through live improvisational acting.
βWhether you're an experienced actor, someone returning to acting or a complete beginner this is an opportunity to connect, perform, learn and experience something different.
βThis time, we're bringing together acting, live reggae performances and traditional Nyahbinghi drumming, creating an atmosphere where our history and stories can come alive.
βπ HOW DOES CARIBBEANS ECHO WORK?
βParticipants will be paired with another performer and given a situation inspired by Afro Caribbean history in Britain. It's all about using your imagination to bring the scene to life.
βThe scenarios explore subjects including:
βThe Windrush generation
βNotting Hill Carnival and Brixton
βThe New Cross Fire and Bristol Bus Boycott
βReggae and sound-system culture
βLovers rock, family, identity and community
βGenerational experiences and Caribbean heritage
βThere are no scripts to memorise and no lines to learn.
βAs usual, we expect participation from all attendees however, we do have a limited number of industry tickets for those wanting to enjoy the performances, music and cultural experience. These are open to industry professionals, cultural organisations etc.
βπ₯ YOUR PERFORMANCE CAN ALSO BE FILMED
βSelected improv scenes will be professionally recorded.
βParticipants whose scenes are filmed will receive a complimentary video clip that they can use for their acting showreel, portfolio or social media.
βIt's an opportunity to develop your acting skills, connect with other creatives and potentially leave with footage of your performance.
βπ€ SPECIAL GUEST β REGGAE ARTIST BARRY ISSAC
βWe're delighted to welcome back Barry Issac, who will be joining us for a special speech and live reggae performance.
βBarry brings years of experience in reggae music and Caribbean culture, adding another dimension to an evening celebrating our musical and cultural heritage.
βπͺ LIVE NYAHBINGHI DRUMMING
βWe're also pleased to welcome:
βJAH BUNNY β’ J LOVE
βThey will be bringing Nyahbinghi drumming and musical energy to Caribbeans Echo.
βJah Bunny is an award-winning reggae drummer and original member of The Cimarons, bringing decades of musical history and experience.
βExpect an evening where acting, storytelling, rhythm and Caribbean heritage come together.
