Lightning Demos: Budget & Approps Edition!
Congress writes the spending bills, agencies execute them, and the record of both is technically public but difficult to track. Join us for a round of lightning demos from teams working across the funding lifecycle. Each speaker gets ~10 minutes to show what they've built, followed by open Q&A.
MakeGov — Dave Zvenyach, CEO of MakeGov and former Director of GSA's Technology Transformation Services, will demo a unified API that puts USAspending, Grants.gov, and other federal sources behind a single key.
BlazingStar Analytics — Joe Carlile, Founder of BlazingStar, spent two decades in federal budget execution and will demo a platform that connects the full chain from appropriation to apportionment to award.
Civic Tech DC — Will Hea, CEO of Skeptical Labs, and Matt Zamora, Director of MoCo Maker Labs, will show two open-source tools for making appropriations bills legible: structural diffing with dollar-amount extraction, and version tracking across a bill's legislative stages.
POPVOX — TBD; POPVOX has prototyped software infrastructure for legislatures since 2010, with a team of former Hill staff.
Have a budget or appropriations product you'd like to demo? Get in touch with one of the organizers and we'll add you to the agenda.
Hosted by POPVOX Foundation and Civic Tech DC.
