Community Chest: Talks and Workshops
A games and theatre double bill hosted at the Workshop. In collaboration with Jordan & Skinner, join us for a talk event with creatives, followed by a mini game jam reinventing a classic board game. Like all of our game jam events, you don't need any game design experience to join.
Both events are aimed at everyone who has an interest in games and theatre. Whether you're a board game fan, a theatre enthusiast or seeking an immersive intro to both - all are welcome!
A ticket grants entrance both events, though you don't have to attend both.

DE-MONOPOLISING THE ARTS
10am - 1pm
A Talk event on finding your space in the arts community. How creating games and theatre can connect you to communities and create new spaces for all of us.
Stay for pizza after the event!
A panel of experienced game and theatre creators come together to chat openly about or communities, arts spaces and the unique challenges our fields may pose. This will be a open, friendly chat and we welcome questions from our audience. There will also be opportunities to open roundtable discussions and socialise with hosts and attendees.
RE-CONSTRUCTING PLAY: MONOPOLY MINI-JAM
2:30pm - 5pm
A workshop to play with and reinvent a classic boardgame, with an introduction from Jordan & Skinner on Lizzie Magie, the inspiration behind their new play DO NOT PASS GO.
No experience needed. If you've never designed a game before this is a fun, low stakes chance to give it a go! Each assigned mechanic will come with an explanation and some examples of how to apply it and we'll be there to give a helpful nudge if you need it. Come with a team or solo and we'll sort you out.
All prototyping materials will be provided. You can bring snacks and drinks in, and we have a small kitchen for tea/coffee.
DO NOT PASS GO explores the incredible life of Lizzie Magie - the Feminist, economist, disruptor, and games designer who wanted to show the world there was an alternative to capitalist greed.

We always want our Workshop events to be accessible to as many parts of our community as we can. This is reflected in our ticket pricing. Please pay what you can. If cost would be a barrier to you attending, please get in touch.
The Workshop is accessible via lift access, though needs staff to let you in. If you require lift access, please get in touch and a member of staff will be happy to meet you and let you in.
If there are any barriers to you attending any event, please let us know. If we can remove those barriers, we will make it so.
