TAP-Taipei is back with another exciting special talk followed by Tappy hour!

Join Us for an evening of ✨Learning✨ with James Lee on Transatlantic Relations and the Status of Taiwan during the Cold War. Whether you are a recent transplant to Taiwan or long time resident curious about the legal status of Taiwan during a historic period, this will be a delightful event for all.

Due to venue constraints, the happy hour will be capped at 64 attendees and the lecture from 4:00-6:30pm at 36 attendees. If you must cancel for any reason, please do so at least 1 day in advance.

James Lee is an American scholar of strategic studies based in Taiwan. His research sits at the intersection of international relations, diplomatic history, and international law, with a particular focus on U.S.–Taiwan–Europe relations and the legal status of Taiwan.

He serves as an Assistant Research Fellow (equivalent to Assistant Professor) at the Institute of European and American Studies at Academia Sinica, the national academy of the Republic of China (Taiwan). He also holds affiliations with the NATO Defense College, the University of California Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC), and Canada’s Network for Strategic Analysis.

Lee received his Ph.D. in Politics from Princeton University in 2018. He has held research positions or visiting affiliations with the European University Institute in Florence; the University of California, San Diego; the NATO Defense College in Rome; the King’s College London Department of War Studies; and the University of Vienna Department of East Asian Studies.
