What Moves Indians: Communicating Climate for Resilience & Livable Cities

​Nine out of every ten days in 2024, India dealt with extreme weather. Heat waves, floods, droughts are all intensifying and showing up in real ways: spoiled food, rising illness, shrinking harvests, and cities that are harder to live in.

​But most climate messaging in India still treats this like a distant, technical problem. People are living the impacts, they just haven't connected them to the bigger picture. That disconnect is the real barrier to building the public and political will we need.

​This session brings together researchers and communicators who are working to close that gap, through social science, data-driven storytelling, and culture and creativity. We'll dig into what's actually working, for whom, and what it takes to build narratives that meet people where they are, whether that's making cities more livable or getting communities ready before the next disaster hits.
