GlasgowJS October Meetup - OpenTelemetry for Web

​Welcome to the GlasgowJS October Meetup! We'll be meeting on Tuesday 13th October, 18:30 at the Waracle Offices.

​We’ll be hearing from Carly Richmond (Senior Manager of Developer Advocacy at Elastic) on OpenTelemetry for Web:

​“OTel You It’s Not Just for Backend!”

Observability is the ability to measure a system’s current state. SREs are familiar with OpenTelemetry signals and how they can diagnose issues. Yet in the frontend world, we’re behind the curve.

Join me as I dive into the current state of OpenTelemetry for Web. I’ll cover a simple example of logging, metrics and tracing using OTel web, specifically the Client Instrumentation libraries, and the types of metrics and traces we should collect to diagnose performance issues and client usage in UIs.

​We are still confirming the venue for this event. It will be announced closer to the time, but it will be somewhere in central Glasgow.

​People with all levels of experience are welcome - from Senior developers to people who are just taking their first steps with JavaScript.

​Supporters tickets with an optional and flexible contribution amount are available so that you can contribute to the running costs of the group.
