Underwater photography workshop for Photographers
Underwater Photography for Photographers
You already trained your eye. This workshop teaches you how to use it underwater.
Designed for professional photographers and serious photography enthusiasts, this immersive 6h workshop introduces you to the creative and technical challenges of shooting below the surface.
The day combines short theory sessions with plenty of practical time in calm, shallow water.
You will first learn essential breathing, relaxation and movement techniques to help you feel comfortable underwater. From there, you will gradually begin working with a camera, learning how buoyancy, limited breath, light, colour and movement change the way you compose and capture an image.
Through a series of guided exercises, you will explore:
Underwater light, colour and reflections
Movement, fabrics and bubbles
Depth, perspective and composition
Shooting calmly and steadily
Working without constantly checking the screen
Directing a subject and developing a visual story
Reviewing your images and refining your creative choices
You are welcome to bring your own camera and underwater housing. If you do not have underwater equipment, cameras and housings will be available to use during the workshop.
Basic equipment for the water session, including masks and fins, will also be available, although you are encouraged to bring your own if you prefer.
The workshop takes place in a small group, allowing plenty of time to experiment, receive individual guidance and adjust your approach between each water session.
Optional editing session
An optional afternoon session is available for participants who would like to learn how to edit and colour-grade underwater photographs.
We will review selected images from the workshop and share practical techniques for recovering colour, improving contrast and developing a natural or creative underwater look.
Photography experience is required, whether photography is your profession or a personal practice. Participants must be comfortable swimming at least 200 metres.
The workshop is held in English, Spanish and French.
