On 16 June 1976, young South Africans raised their voices for freedom. Their courage changed our nation forever.
This Youth Day, we ride in their memory and for their legacy. Join us for a very special June 16 Jam & Ride – a day to commemorate the Class of 1976, celebrate today's youth, and build community through cycling, art, and music.
🚲 THE RIDE
11:00 PM – Community Chill Ride A relaxed 90-minute ride through Khayelitsha. We will hold a moment of silence before departure to honour the young heroes of 1976. All welcome. Bicycles available on request.
🎨 THE GALLERY
From 13:30 AM, Visual art from local Khayelitsha artists – works that speak to youth, resistance, hope, and the future.
🎵 THE JAM
From 13:45 PM Stripped-down acoustic performances by young artists from Nguzo Saba Institute and the community – songs of struggle, hope, and celebration.
Free entry. If you're able, select the Community Supporter – R50+ Donation ticket. Your contribution supports youth cycling programmes at Khaltsha Cycling Academy and arts education at Nguzo Saba Institute.
ENTRY Fee: Donation of R50 or more to Khaltsha Cycling Academy and Nguzo Saba Institute, both non-profit organisations.
