Redesigning Design: The Uncomfortable Truth About Our Value and Our Teams
Design fought hard for a seat at the strategic table. Now AI is reshaping the room entirely — and the leaders who'll thrive aren't the ones defending what design used to be. They're the ones redefining what it can become.
For many design leaders, that shift creates a double pressure.
Externally, clients who once leaned on design are now questioning its value in an AI-powered world. Internally, teams who've built their identity around craft and process are facing change that feels more like threat than opportunity. Both pressures are real. And most leaders are navigating them at the same time, without a clear playbook.
In this session, Stephanie Lacher — Head of Tangity UK & Ireland and a business strategist who became one of design's most unexpected advocates — tackles both uncomfortable truths head on. Drawing on her background in strategy consulting and over a decade leading design studios, she shares what she's learned repositioning design's value with senior clients — and what it actually takes to bring a team through change without leaving people behind.
You'll hear what it looks like to reframe design not as craft or process, but as a strategic capability for ongoing client decisions. And you'll get an honest look inside the internal conversation most design leaders are either having or avoiding — what's really driving team resistance, and what actually helps people move.
💡 What you’ll leave with:
Why AI makes design more strategically important — not less
How to reposition your value before clients do it for you
What's really behind your team's resistance to change — and what actually helps
🗓️ Happening on: May 20, Tuesday, 5–6pm CEST (GMT+2)
