The Mobile Monastery Chautauqua is deeply rooted in modern monasticism. Founder Autumn Turley is a long-time practitioner and has spent years as a “modern monastic”. We specialize in teaching meditation, chanting and mindful relating inspired by our training at MAPLE (Monastic Academy for the Preservation of Life on Earth). We draw from an eclectic group of Mobile Monastery Teachers whose offerings range from embodiment to sound healing to nature bathing. Our events also feature art, music, massage, and tea. We have the flexibility to creatively customize our offerings to best serve your community’s interests and needs.

TEACHING WISDOM AND COMPASSION TO THE MIND THAT IS MAKING AI:
Moment by moment, we let screens and ads control us. What are the results? More food and shelter, yet less wisdom and love. More computers and faster shipping, yet less reverence. How is it possible that we live in a time when we can cross the oceans in a day, but are more segregated than ever? If we don't act right now then we may destroy all life on the planet.
How do we respond to artificial intelligence? How do we respond to a tool that is now teaching our children? Simple: wisdom and compassion. At the monastic academy we learn to cultivate wisdom and compassion through daily efforts. We believe that through these efforts we can tackle this AI crisis. We do not assume that AI is innately evil, but that those who make it and use it are currently stuck in an evil mind, and are therefore making it in evil ways.
In this talk we will discuss how we choose who to hand our future to, and how we can choose a future where the mind that is making AI is reverent, honorable, loving, and wise.
