About Event

A monthly gathering hosted by Wayfinder for people in tech to feel less lost in their career.

Layoffs looming. AI making your job feel less stable. Or simply feeling like your current job is too unfulfilling to admit?

Don't worry, you're not alone. In a survey I ran, 8 out of 10 people in tech said they question their career path at least once a month. Most of them deal with it alone.

If you moved to Berlin for the job, it's often worse. You don't have the usual people around to talk it through, and if German isn't your thing yet, fewer doors feel open, so staying quiet about it feels like the safer bet.

Less Lost is a small gathering to change that. Once a month, around 10 people in tech meet for an honest hour about the career questions we usually keep to ourselves.

It's a mix of an exercise, sparring and reflection.

Agenda

  • Short intro + Ice breaker (10min)

  • Simple reflection exercise -> changes monthly (10min)

  • One on one sparring with other participants

  • Open group discussion to share what came up

You will not leave with your whole life figured out. But you will leave a little less lost: clearer about your own version of feeling stuck, less alone in it, and with a sense of where you might go next.

This is for you if:

  • You work in tech or startups and your career looks good on paper

  • You moved here for the opportunity, and now the opportunity is the thing you're unsure about

  • The job is objectively fine, but you keep quietly wondering if it is actually the one you want

  • You have thought about doing something different and talked yourself out of it

This is probably not for you if you already feel clear about your direction, or if you are looking for tactical job-search help like CV reviews or interview prep. Less Lost is about the deeper question underneath all of that: what do you actually want your work to be?

Your facilitator (Kento)

I have spent years riding the career conveyor belt: university degrees, consulting, startup career in Berlin. Somewhere between the job titles and the LinkedIn updates, I started noticing the same pattern in the people around me: smart, capable, performing well, and quietly wondering if they were playing the right game.

I have also lived in Japan for three years, figuring out who I was and what I actually wanted without the usual scaffolding of home. I know how hard it can be to make career decisions somewhere unfamiliar.

Wayfinder is my attempt to do something about it.

Past Wayfinder participants say...

I came in just trying to go from unhappy to okay. Kento helped me see I could aim for more than 'fine’, and that I am allowed to want that. (Aya Tanikawa from Japan, Engineer at Tech Startup in Berlin)

Seeing myself put numbers to how much I allow myself to do things and the beliefs I have was really eye opening. Also made me realize how interconnected everything is. (Celine from UK)

It was a very interesting and insightful session. Especially your pre breakout presentation, it created a mental model and a framework for the breakout sessions. I wish I could have spoken with everyone longer. (Chinmay from India, Engineer at DeliveryHero)
