About Event

We are excited to introduce an updated version of one of ASGA’s most-used resources: the Solar Grazing Master Services Agreement (MSA) Template, a.k.a. the ASGA Contract Template.

Previous versions of this contract template helped set the industry standard for solar grazing contracts and have been widely used across the country. The solar grazing industry has undergone significant growth since we last released an update in 2022, and we decided it was time to revisit the contract and update it to reflect changes in the industry.

During the revision process, we worked with the Food and Farm Business Law Clinic at Pace University’s Elisabeth Haub School of Law to incorporate insights and lessons learned from real-world use across the industry. The Pace Law team reviewed extensive feedback collected from ASGA members, including experienced solar graziers and representatives of major IPPs with grazing on their sites.

At this webinar, Pace Law students Hope Newkirk and Andrew Lander will walk us through the key updates to the template, explaining what has changed and the reasoning behind those revisions for both graziers and solar site operators. Lexie Hain, ASGA Board of Directors and Director of Agrivoltaics and Land Management at Lightsource bp, will join us to provide additional context for the revisions.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and deepen their understanding of solar grazing contracting best practices.

Key updates to the template include:

  • Vegetation maintenance standards

  • Delayed commencement of grazing

  • Late payment provisions

  • Notification requirements for maintenance or emergency conditions

About the Template: The solar grazing contract template is designed to provide a clear, standardized framework for agreements between sheep graziers and solar companies. It is structured as a Master Services Agreement (MSA) that governs the overall relationship, paired with Statements of Work (SOW) that define site-specific terms for individual projects. Together, these components help ensure consistency, clarity, and scalability across multiple grazing sites. The original template was created in 2018 and updated in 2022 in partnership with the Food and Beverage Law Clinic (now the Food and Farm Business Law Clinic) at Pace University’s Elisabeth Haub School of Law.
