How to Raise Capital & Build What Matters
+lunch with nomad at midday: https://lu.ma/f07irrdv
I am going to teach you everything* that matters about taking a startup from 0 to 1.
This is a ~5 hour intensive. I have given it in sections multiple times before at NS and for the right founder, it is largely acknowledged as the best thing they have done at NS.
Some even come twice.
Who is the right founder? Focus is on venture backable companies competing for world-changing opportunities.
Whilst we will start at basics I consider this session as expert as you can get, and there are for eg many founders who have raised millions before that have come to this and found it useful. It will probably take you years to fully understand what we cover.
The emphasis is on raising capital, because capital solves almost all other problems.
A rough breakdown of the 5 hours:
(1) How to Build a Startup
What is a startup?
What are we trying to do in a startup?
How do we do it well?
1.5 hours. It's not as basic as it sounds.
(2) How to raise money for your startup
From 0 to series A rounds.
We will cover everything from the basics to the strategy and tactics of getting it done, including:
The Game
The Stakeholders
When and how much to fundraise
What you need to fundraise, valuations
Investors - who, what, why, economics & incentives
How to run a fundraising process
Metrics needed at different stages
1.5 hours.
(3) Methods, Metrics, Materials
Method - end to end process to fundraise
Materials - what you need at every stage
Metrics - required to succeed at every stage
1 hour.
(4) Tokens
Optional add on for those issuing tokens.
How to launch a token, run a public company, and raise capital for a token.
1 hour.
Everything will be led in a very interactive lecture style, with q&a.
We will take some random breaks, and grab lunch boxes together for those that need to eat.

I've been investing as an angel and VC since 2013, have raised 50+ tickets from $10k to $10M into startups I ran, and have advised on 100+ other investments.
I've had multiple exits, and some huge failures. I've been involved with early stage accelerators since 2013 - techstars worked out of my funds office. Ran On Deck 'Europe' before ODF1, and ran my own 'accelerator' - The Reserve - where 50% of our pre-seed companies became unicorns.
