Onboarding to Canton: Security, identity, privacy, and the infrastructure layer underneath
βOnboarding to Canton is five decisions, not one β and most are expensive to reverse once development starts.
βπ October 29 | 15:00 UTC (65 min)
βJoin a Canton Foundation board member, a Canton-native product team, a blockchain data provider and a security partner for a practical session on what to settle first, who owns each call inside your organisation, and which ones you can still change later.
βThe five decisions
β1. Identity β who counts as a verified participant, who makes that call internally, and who holds the key behind that identity once it exists.
β2. Visibility β what Canton's privacy model guarantees by default, and what you have to design yourself. A disclosure failure here is a confidentiality event, not a loss of funds: different incident response, different notification obligation.
β3. Operations β run the infrastructure yourself or buy it. What each option determines about control, audit trail, and your ability to leave.
β4. Release β how an application is built, published and reaches users, and what gets verified before it ships. Canton removes reentrancy, gas and delegatecall by design; what remains sits in authority, validation, visibility and state. A contract can build cleanly and still let one party act where two signatures were required.
β5. Evidence β Canton has no public explorer. What that means for incident detection, audit response and regulatory enquiry, and what has to exist before any of it becomes urgent.
βMost get expensive fast once the build starts. Knowing which is the point.
