Learn a Skill with Mariana: Blacksmithing

​Every event invitation you got this quarter was a webinar, a steak dinner, or a booth. This one involves fire and a hammer.

​I’m Mariana Padilla, Community Evangelist at Harmonic Security. Normally, I bring security, AI governance, and risk people together to talk about what’s happening in our industry.

​Learn a Skill with Mariana is a departure from that. It’s a small-group tour built around learning real, regional human skills together. The name is a play on Claude Skills, but there are no panels, product pitches, or LLMs involved.

​Stop two: blacksmithing.

​On Thursday, November 19, we’re taking over Hardy & Fuller in Denver for a three-hour introduction to forging. We’ll learn how to heat, twist, and bend steel, then each leave with something we made ourselves.

​No experience or superhuman upper-body strength required. Hardy & Fuller provides the tools and protective equipment.

​What to wear

​Closed-toe shoes and clothing made from natural fibers such as cotton or denim. Avoid synthetic fabrics, tie back long hair, and leave dangling jewelry at home.
