🚊 Travel Options
Better Future Club alongside LA Climate Week are coordinating a group to travel to the hearing together.
✨Option 1: Travel by Amtrak with our group!
-$23 per ticket ($46 for round-trip)
-1 hour and 37 minutes each way
-Have fun hanging with our group or working remotely if you need!
AM To the Hearing:
-From Union Station to San Clemente Pier
-Train leaves 8:10AM, Train arrives at 9:37
-Group will Uber to the Holiday Inn from the pier
-Plan to arrive at Union station around 7:45AM on 5/19
PM Back to LA:
-There are departure trains at 1:20, 2:20, 2:44, 3:20, 5:30, 6:23, departure will depend on duration of hearing and when you submit your comment.
✨Option 2: Carpool with others from LA!
We can help connect people to carpools based on location, make sure to RSVP with either of the following:
-If you would like to go in a car-pool as a passenger RSVP as "Car-Pool Passenger".
If you would like to go in a car-pool as a passenger RSVP as "Car-Pool Driver"
We will coordinate carpools via group text or group email.
ℹ️ Hearing Logistics
⏰ Hearing Time:
-Begins 8 AM on Tuesday (we can arrive ~10AM)
-Expected to end after 5PM
-We will be arriving in the morning and individuals can leave after submitting comment or wait to travel home together!

Public input truly makes a difference!Commissioners listen to and consider every comment when making their decisions.
Showing up in-person is one of the most powerful ways to show we care. It also provides opportunity for more visibility of this issue through media and content.
Well-organized industry voices are pushing back on this issue while everyday Californians, activists and scientists are underrepresented in this process.
So, let's show up together in force to voice our support to expand our CA Marine Protected Areas!

Marine life off our coast is under growing threat from overfishing, offshore drilling, and marine heatwaves. In the past decade alone, California has lost up to 90% of its kelp forests in some regions—ecosystems that are essential for marine life. Strong protections are critical to ensure our ocean can recover and thrive.
